As my eyes focused on the view around me once more, I realized that from the top all I could truly see was beauty. Later today, as I drive down this mountain and back to the village I am working in, my view will change. I will go from standing back from the mirror and seeing the whole picture, to pressing my nose upon the glass. The perspective shifting completely.
I then began to think of life. We rarely jump in our visual helicopter and head up there, to the 500 ft view of life. Up there, where the air is clean, and we are standing far back from the mirror, seeing the whole entire picture. The place where perspective exists in unmeasurable quantities. That place where you can't see the blemishes, cracks and wrinkles, they are specks in the distance.
There is power in perspective. In moments of challenge, stress, and heartache, taking those steps back to see the whole, beautiful picture, and gain perspective can dramatically change our actions and reactions.
Today I challenge you to step back from the wrinkles, blemishes, and cracks, to gaze upon your life from a 500 ft view, and take in all the beauty. Enjoy the beautiful in the view, even in the darkest of moments there is beauty.
