My reading and learning from Brené has helped me every day to strive for living a better life or in Brené's words, a wholehearted life. The idea of a wholehearted life has helped me to be a better coach, partner, mother, volunteer and community member. Her thoughts, wisdom, and quotes stick with me and keep me authentic and alive on my path. I remain focused on the following four actions that Brené highlights:
- Let myself be seen.
- Love with my whole heart.
- Practice gratitude and joy in moments of terror.
- Believe that I am enough.
How do I keep these four actions at the centre of my life?
I start each day by focusing on them and then, with courage, placing my foot on the cold bedroom floor (it is cold all year round living in Stockholm). I realize I am imperfect but I am worthy. I am ready to face another "street fight" while remaining centered and focused. I end each day by taking a moment to consider where I saw those four actions in action throughout my day. I celebrate those victories as I end my day.
